Building has always been a passion for Matt Greenwood. Growing up on the family sugarcane farm at Gordonvale, it was the penchant for tools rather than tractors that had him taking on a carpentry apprenticeship at the age of 16.
Now, more than two decades on, Matt has projects both large and small under his belt. He has worked on Cairns’ most prestigious medium-rise residential developments as well as building homes across the region, from Cairns to Atherton, Mareeba and Innisfail.
In 2012, Matt and his wife Sharyn established Matt Greenwood Constructions. Built on solid family values, where customer service, loyalty and quality come first, Matt Greenwood Constructions has continued to grow and is today one of the most respected building firms in Far North Queensland.
Matt considers the beauty and functionality of the homes he builds his business card, where outstanding craftsmanship speaks for itself. He is rigorous in selecting the skilled tradesmen who become part of his trusted team. His passion for building has honed his eye for quality In design and construction and attention to detail with a focus on ensuring superior living spaces that complement the desires and aspirations of his clients.
It is this work ethic that has seen the construction company recognised with some of the industry’s most prestigious building awards. These include the Master Builders Queensland’s Far North Queensland Housing & Construction Award for best individual home in their respective categories in 2015 and 2016, and the Rising Star award in 2016.
Handing over the keys to a new home to happy clients at the end of a shared construction journey is a special moment for Matt. For him, taking on a contract is not just the challenge of transforming a client’s visual dream into reality. He is acutely aware that a new home is one of the most important investments a person can make. Importantly, having a family of his own, he understands the value of functionality and has an eye for the little things that can add to the ease of everyday living and family life.
